SOLAS V/19-1 Long Range Identification & Tracking

The new SOLAS V/19-1 Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) regulation will enter into force on the 31-December 2008. The introduction of LRIT will enable the monitoring of vessels at sea and provide an identification of potential threats.

As an experienced supplier and installer of SSAS systems and vessel tracking software, Aeoliki Marine can provide cost effective solutions to meet the SOLAS requirements.

If shipowners and shipmanagers wish to test their fleet's LRIT-compliance, we can arrange to carry out an Equipment Compliance Test and issue the Test Report. In the event that the existing equipment is non-compliant, we can supply compliant equipment and arrange for the equipment installation through our network of trained technicians.

APPLICABILITY : The Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) regulation will apply to ships engaged on international voyages

REQUIREMENTS : Ships' LRIT equipment must be able to be configured to transmit minimum information, in an automatically generated position report.

IMPLEMENTATION: Different Flags will adopt slightly different LRIT implementation strategies

SHIPOWNER OBLIGATIONS : The shipowner's obligation under the LRIT regulation is to ensure they have compliant equipment.

EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEM : There is a likelihood that existing Inmarsat C terminals may not be compliant to the LRIT regulation.

COMPLIANCE TESTING : Testing for LRIT compliance is straightforward and requires only that a specific testing process is followed.

SHIP SECURITY ALERT SYSTEMS : SSAS systems should not be used for cross-regulatory purposes

AUTOMATIC IDENTIFICATION SYSTEMS : There will be no interface between LRIT and AIS.
